GUARDIAN HOMES

Kyva and ezyra

Future Mom's Kyva and Ezyra who live together in a Guardian Home.

Here at Pitter Patter Poodles we strive to provide only the best for our breeding dogs who are truly

members of our family. To ensure we are able to give these dogs the best possible home life while

being able to expand and produce the best possible puppies, we like to limit the number of dogs we

have living in our home. Which is why we offer a guardian program where qualified families will

receive a FREE puppy/dog while we retain the breeding rights.

Guardian families are expected to properly care for their new puppy/dog physically and financially.

We will cover the costs associated to breeding and care for all the litters produced by the guardian

family dogs. Basically, you will get an adorable dog to add to your family at NO upfront cost, since

you will be signing up to work with us for the next 4 years, while we use him/her in our breeding

program. Pretty simple! Guardian dogs will remain your forever family pet but will come to us every

so often to sire/whelp their litters.

Qualifications:

-Adequate knowledge of properly raising and caring for a dog.

-Must live within 1 hr of Arlington Wa (98223)

-Fenced Yard

Guardian families must be able to;

- Provide a puppy/dog with proper health care, nutrition and exercise

- Properly train and socialize a puppy/dog with appropriate tools and methods

- Keep up with grooming (both professionally and at home) including regular

brushing/bathing/nail trimming

Perks:

-A best of the best puppy for no upfront cost. That has been raised on extensive service dog

curriculum, started on potty training and basic obedience before coming home.

-Free nights of boarding and free days of daycare (if we don’t have them often we won’t charge you!)

Outside of these 3-5 free days Boarding & daycare is discounted to $20 per night and $15 for

daycare.

Owning a female guardian dog:

Once your dog is of age and has passed all the health testing and is ready to breed (typically on the

third heat cycle) we will have your dog over for a few days during the breeding process and later,

for the duration of whelping her litter. After your dog has been bred she will return to her guardian

family who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will then come back to us a week before she

is due to whelp her litter. The dog will spend at least 6-12 weeks per year in our care to whelp, raise

and wean their puppies (guardian families are always welcome to visit). Guardians must be able to

detect a heat cycle and keep females away from intact male dogs during this time. Females retire at

around the age of 4 (typically after having 3-4 litters). After retirement the female will be spayed at

our expense and continue to live the remainder of her life with her guardian family.

Owning a male guardian dog:

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing and is ready to breed (whenever he has

matured) our male dogs will spend a few days or just a few hours with us at a time when needed

during breeding. Guardians must be able to keep male dogs away from intact female dogs in heat.

Males retire at the oldest age of 5 years old but typically around 4 years of age. After retirement the

male will be neutered at our expense and continue to live the remainder of his life with his guardian

family.

Other Requirements:

All guardian dogs are required to wear an FI tracker at all times. This will be provided by the

guardian family.

Depending on your location if within short distance of our preferred trainer it will be required to

take puppy classes with her or at minimum do one boot camp. We have built a strong rapport with

Amanda and love how she is with our dogs.

Crate training is a very important thing to us, we obviously don’t have our dogs in crates all day and

expect you won’t either but knowing how to sleep in a crate is a must. Our dogs crates are their safe

space where they can have some time alone, eat safety and sleep peacefully through the night.

We expect the same for all our guardian dogs. (The crate must NEVER be used as punishment!)

For Poodles: Hair should be trimmed as needed in a maintainable poodle Or doodle trim. Must wait

until at least 16 weeks before having a full haircut.

For Doodles: We ask that you let the puppy’s coat grow out until 5-7 months, although hair around

the face, on the belly and under the tail must be kept trimmed. Brushing and bathing should be

done regularly. Must be kept in doodle cut.

*You can always doodle a poodle but please don’t poodle our doodles!

For Labs: We ask that they are brushed and bathed regularly and nails done frequently.

We ask that you allow us to make arrangements to photograph the puppy/dog throughout various

stages in its life to display on our website/social media channels.

Guardian dogs are to be kept on a healthy diet at all times including feeding our chosen food brand

and any required supplements will be provided at the expense of the breeder.

Guardian families are required to take their puppy/dog to the vet for its annual vaccines and

whenever else needed (aside from breeding related visits) we ask to be notified even when simply

giving vaccines as they can sometimes interfere with breedings.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, even if you don't see any dog/puppies available we may be able to give you a time line on any upcoming additions.
